As well as sports and hiking activities, the Jizera Mountains and their environs also offer numerous ways of spending your time, if the weather is not nice enough to go outside. The two largest municipalities, Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou, offer the biggest range of cultural activities. Liberec is home to the North Bohemian Museum, the Regional Gallery, the F. X. Šalda Theatre, the botanical gardens, the zoological gardens and the Lidové sady Cultural Centre in Liberec. Jablonec can offer the unique Museum of Glass and Costume Jewellery, the renovated Town Theatre, the My Gallery and the Belveder Gallery. Other opportunities for trips include a visit to the marvellous château in Frýdlant, the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Hejnice, the museum in the Riedel Villa in Desná, the curative springs in Lázně Libverda and many more. The Jizera Mountain region is home to a number of museums, cinemas, libraries and clubs, not to mention the many permanent or occasional cultural events which take place there, especially during the summer.
