Jablonec is a young town from an architectural point of view. It underwent its greatest boom at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. There are a number of interesting places, significant buildings and whole suburbs which are worth seeing. You will find unmistakeable traces of the art nouveau, functionalist and neo-renaissance styles. It is easy to find your way in the town, because the centre consists of three squares located one above the other and the southern horizon is dominated by the Petřín Hotel with its lookout tower. A reservoir was built near the town’s centre at the beginning of last century. The dam has not only become a significant technical monument, but it also provides visitors with numerous recreational opportunities throughout the whole year. Jablonec is well known as a town of glass and costume jewellery. You can witness the skills of local glass-makers developed over centuries and admire the fragile beauty of glass products and costume jewellery. The town can boast a cultural facility which is unique in our country – the Museum of Glass and Costume Jewellery. Its expansive collections are mainly presented in permanent expositions (“The Magical World of Costume Jewellery” and “The Enchanted Garden”), but also by frequent temporary exhibitions.
Jablonec nad Nisou invites everybody who is looking for a varied and active holiday. During a visit to the town, you can combine the advantages of urban life such as cultural and sports opportunities with the advantages arising from its close proximity to the Jizera Mountains.
