There is no nicer place for a view of Jablonec nad Nisou than the hill known as Petřín. The Jablonec basin opens up perfectly and visitors can see the entire city with all its significant structures, including the reservoir, and a significant part of the Jizera Mountains. Richard Fellinghauer built a trip restaurant with a lookout tower called “Zur Nickelkoppe” on the hill in 1906. The Czech name of Petřín was established after 1945. At present, the hotel and lookout tower are closed. However, the observation area in front of the former hotel is open to the public and it is a popular site, especially among photographers.
