Slovanka is one of three lookout towers which are located on the Maxov Ridge and it was the first lookout tower to be completed in the Jizera Mountains. The individual parts of the 11 m high lookout tower weighed more than 5 tons and they were brought all the way from Vienna, where they had served as an exhibit at an industrial exhibition, in 1887. Nowadays, Slovanka attracts visitors more as a technical monument than as a site which offers distant views. The lookout tower is open all year round, free of charge and at the visitors’ own risk.
